the world's first weaponized robot

From Wired Blog’s Danger Room (via mikeyv):

They “haven’t fired their weapons yet,” Michael Zecca, the SWORDS program manager, tells DANGER ROOM. “But that’ll be happening soon.”

Once they’ve killed off all the Iraqis, we can program them to run the oil rigs and refineries, and everything will be perfect.

We have had and used armed UAV's for a while now. And they are basically flying robots.

It's not clear to me from the Wired Blog article what definition makes this thing a "robot" yet excludes the unmanned aerial vehicle. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robot for starters.

Meanwhile, I wish I'd thought of this, posted as a comment under that article: "Specially made for those causes that are worth killing for but not worth dying for."
