DSM: Charlie! The tide is ebbing!

I caught a little of Gov. Palin’s interview with ABC. To me, it was a flop. Palin said wacky stuff. If Russia invades Georgia it’s war. The Bush Doctrine? “Uhhhh…” Pelted with the soft interrogatories of Charlie “Teddy Bear” Gibson, she lost her winning charm. She came off as contrived, mean and condescending.

True, it’s tough not be condescending to Gibson, who during one of the primary debates asserted that eliminating the Bush tax cuts would affect the middle class rather than the top 3.4% of income earners. Nonetheless here he’s in the role of America’s uncle (he has trademarked his hair as “America’s Comb-over”) interviewing grandpa’s newly discovered long-lost step-daughter.

So Palin needed to be nice to the guy, which involves more than yelling “Charlie” at him every other sentence. She looked way in over her head as she tried to use loud talk and hand gestures to escape the tough ones.

Meanwhile: The bounce, it is a fadin’. America’s still a little intoxicated with last week’s binge on Old Granddad, it’s turning into the depressing morning after for the GOP. This is about as far as they get. So says Sausage.
