so how do you really feel?

MSNBC keeps rolling as Mike Murphy (McCain’s former campaign chief) and Peggy Noonan (Reagan speechwriter) wander way off script while talking to NBC’s Chuck Todd.

MM: You know, because I come out of the blue swing-state governor world. Engler, Whitman, Thompson, Mitt Romney, Jeb Bush. And these guys, this is all like how you win a Texas race. You know, just run it up. And it’s not gonna work.

PN: It’s over.

MM: Still, McCain can give a version of the Lieberman speech to do himself some good.

CT: Don’t you think the Palin pick was insulting to Kay Bailey Hutchinson, to …

PN: I saw Kay this morning.

MM: They’re all bummed out.

CT: I mean, is she really the most qualified woman they could have turned to?

PN: The most qualified? No. I think they went for this, excuse me, political bullshit about narratives and [crosstalk] the picture.

MM: I totally agree.

PN: Every time the Republicans do that because that’s not where they live and it’s not what they’re good at and they blow it.

MM: You know what’s really the worst thing about it? The greatness of McCain is no cynicism and this is cynical.

I saw the YouTube of this last night.

It is nice to hear, but of course this was said before Palin's speech which is getting good reviews for at least delivery, if not the message.

I didn't see it myself.

Apparently she can energize the Republican right-wing base.

I still don't think she will win or lose the election for McCain.

As an aside, I really wish that Obama would do something to counter the Republican ads saying that Obama is just a celebrity and lacks substance. If he allows the message to go unansweed too long it can end up defining him to undecided voters.
